Fans and collectors of the Blade Runner franchise will have a new opportunity to own a piece of the futuristic world created for Blade Runner 2049. More than 300 original props, costumes and set decoration items from Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sci-fi sequel are set to go under the hammer in what is being billed as the film’s final online auction.
Titled Blade Runner 2049: The Final Online Auction, the sale is being organized by entertainment memorabilia auctioneer Propstore in association with Alcon Entertainment. The auction will remain open through Oct. 14, with registration already available for interested bidders. The collection offers fans the chance to acquire original production material from one of the most visually distinctive science fiction films of the past decade.
Among the most notable pieces going up for auction is the animatronic memory orb belonging to Dr. Ana Stelline, the character played by Carla Juri. The intricate production item is expected to attract significant attention, with bidding scheduled to begin at $35,000. The orb is one of several pieces that highlight the detailed practical craftsmanship used in creating the film’s futuristic world.
Another major item is Officer K’s complete costume, including the distinctive coat worn by Ryan Gosling. The costume has been screen-matched to the sequence in which K fights Sapper Morton, played by Dave Bautista, at Sapper’s farm. Bidding for the complete costume is set to open at $20,000, making it one of the most valuable costume pieces in the sale.
The auction will also feature several weapons and character-specific items from the movie. Rick Deckard’s stunt LAPD 2019 PKD detective special blaster, associated with Harrison Ford’s returning character, is expected to sell for approximately $15,000. Luv’s main blaster, used by Sylvia Hoeks’ character, carries an estimated value of around $8,000.
A costume worn by Ana de Armas as Joi is also among the items being offered. The outfit includes Joi’s turtleneck and clear yellow jacket and has an estimated value of approximately $5,000. Together, the selection provides collectors with a range of options spanning costumes, weapons, practical effects pieces and set-related material from the production.
There is also an additional incentive for those who register for the auction. Every registered participant will automatically receive a free opportunity to win K’s black production sweater from the film. The contest is subject to the official rules provided by Propstore.
Beyond the collector appeal, the auction will also support humanitarian work. Five percent of the total auction hammer price will be donated to CORE, the humanitarian organization associated with Sean Penn and Ann Lee.
Propstore COO Brandon Alinger described the sale as the final opportunity for fans and collectors to obtain original production material directly connected to Blade Runner 2049. He emphasized the scale of the collection, noting that the more than 300 props, costumes and set pieces represent the craftsmanship that helped define the film’s distinctive visual identity.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 was released theatrically by Warner Bros. in October 2017. The film continued the story and mythology established by Ridley Scott’s 1982 science fiction classic Blade Runner, which was based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
The sequel followed Ryan Gosling as Officer K, a young blade runner whose investigation leads him to search for former blade runner Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford. Ford reprised his iconic role from the original film, while the sequel expanded the franchise with performances from Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Carla Juri, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
Although Blade Runner 2049 underperformed commercially, earning approximately $259 million worldwide, it received strong critical recognition. The film earned five Academy Award nominations and ultimately won two Oscars, for Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. Its production design, cinematography, visual effects and practical elements became major parts of its critical reputation.
The franchise is now continuing to expand beyond the two feature films. Amazon’s Prime Video series Blade Runner 2099, starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, is scheduled to premiere Nov. 25. The upcoming series will further extend the universe established by the original Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049.
With the franchise entering another chapter, the final Blade Runner 2049 auction offers collectors an opportunity to own original pieces from the film before the production memorabilia leaves the market. From Officer K’s screen-matched coat and Deckard’s blaster to Dr. Ana’s animatronic memory orb and Joi’s costume, the collection brings together some of the recognizable objects that helped bring Villeneuve’s futuristic vision to life.
