Oprah Winfrey To Bring AHA Experience To Las Vegas Sphere In 2027

Date:

Oprah Winfrey is bringing a new live experience to Las Vegas’ Sphere, becoming the latest major star to take over the immersive venue. The media mogul will launch Oprah Winfrey’s AHA for a three-day run from April 2 through April 4, 2027.

The two-hour production is being designed as an immersive journey centered on wonder, joy and moments of personal discovery. Winfrey will appear live onstage alongside a lineup of special guests, musicians, writers and artists as the experience explores what she describes as the “AHA” — those moments of greater awareness and understanding that can change how people see themselves and their connection with others.

Winfrey said the idea for the project was inspired by seeing U2 perform at Sphere. She recalled being struck by the possibilities of the venue and how its enormous immersive screens and technology could be used for something beyond a conventional concert.

“‘AHA’ is a dream that came to me as I sat in awe at the opening night of U2 at the Sphere,” Winfrey said in a statement and promotional video for the event. She described being “mesmerized” by the possibilities of using the space as a tool for creating greater awareness and understanding of ourselves and our connection to each other. She added that developing the project has felt like the culmination of the ideas she has spoken about and worked toward throughout her career.

AHA Will Bring Together Music, Writing And Visual Art

Winfrey will not be alone onstage during the three performances. The AHA lineup includes seven-time Grammy winner Jacob Collier, acclaimed poet and author Ocean Vuong, musician Ajeet and gospel singer Wintley Phipps.

Vuong has an additional connection to Winfrey through her book club. His novel The Emperor of Gladness was recently selected for Oprah’s Book Club, making his participation in the Sphere production another collaboration between the author and Winfrey. The production also brings together a wide-ranging group of composers, musicians, writers and visual artists.

Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter will contribute musical direction and original music, alongside Grammy-winning musician and vocal director Jason White and Grammy-nominated composer, producer and electronic artist Jon Hopkins. The writing team includes Oscar-winning Moonlight screenwriter Tarell Alvin McCraney, who is also a MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient and currently serves as artistic director of Geffen Playhouse. Artist Es Devlin and the Plum Village Monks will also contribute original works to the experience.

Behind the production are director Ethan Tobman and Baz Halpin, the Emmy-winning founder and CEO of Silent House Group. The event is being presented by Live Nation.Winfrey will executive produce the project alongside Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, producer of The Life You Want tour and co-founder of Godmothers bookstore; Harpo Entertainment Emmy-winning executive producer Tara McNally Montgomery; and Emmy-winning Fulwell Entertainment co-founder and partner Ben Winston. Social entrepreneur Andrew Maxwell Mangino and Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp are also part of the producing team, with Sharp serving as consulting producer.

Tickets And Packages

Tickets for Oprah Winfrey’s AHA start at $145. Fans can sign up for the presale and reserve weekend packages through the event’s official website.Ticket bundles and hotel experiences will also be offered through Vibee. The official presale is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. PT, or 1 p.m. ET, while general ticket sales will begin Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. PT.The three-day engagement gives Sphere another opportunity to expand the type of programming it offers beyond traditional concert residencies.

Sphere Looks Beyond Concerts

Since opening in Las Vegas, Sphere has established itself as a major destination for large-scale live entertainment. The venue has hosted residencies from artists and groups including U2, the Eagles, Dead & Company and No Doubt, while the Backstreet Boys have also become part of its growing residency lineup.Concerts remain central to Sphere’s programming strategy, but the venue has increasingly experimented with immersive experiences that do not depend on a traditional live music performance.

Its first original immersive production was Postcard From Earth, a documentary from filmmaker Darren Aronofsky created specifically for Sphere. The venue later expanded its original programming with an adaptation of the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, using Sphere’s massive visual environment to recreate elements including the famous tornado sequence and flying monkeys. An adaptation of The Rocky Horror Picture Show is also expected to arrive at the venue next year.

Winfrey’s AHA represents another potential direction for Sphere: large-scale experiential productions that combine live performance, storytelling, music, literature and visual art rather than fitting neatly into the categories of either a concert or a film. The format could also become increasingly relevant as Sphere Entertainment develops additional venues. Two more Spheres are planned for the coming years, including one in Abu Dhabi and another outside Washington, D.C.

If AHA succeeds as a live experience, the concept could provide a model for the kind of programming that can be adapted to multiple Sphere locations. For now, Winfrey’s three-night Las Vegas engagement will introduce audiences to a project that brings together her longtime focus on personal growth and human connection with one of the world’s most technologically ambitious entertainment venues.
